Chamber-Backed Contract Security Bill Pre-Filed in Legislature

This could be the year that the Chamber gets this much needed piece of legislation passed. The bill would create minimum standards for Alabama contract security guards, ensuring a safer community for us all.  The bill, HB60 introduced by Rep. Demetrius Newton (D-Birmingham), was prefiled yesterday in the Alabama House.  A Senate companion bill will also be prefiled shortly by Sen. Linda Coleman (D-Birmingham).  Check back to The Caputo Report for a copy of the House and Senate bills once we get copies.

  • Great Job. Pascal and Alison worked hard last year but they got a late start due to their hire dates. Even so, they had the bill in a position to pass the last session. I think with the early start they’ve gotten this year, the bill is destined to pass. I also want to give a shout out to Representative Newton and Senator Coleman. They took the time to study the bill and make improvements during the last session. That too will help us during the upcoming session. I am greatful for their help.
